iPhone 14 Pro vs. iPhone 13 Pro: Time to choose between Pros!

As Apple has announced its new lineup, they will discontinue their last year’s Pro models, i.e., iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Due to discontinuation, these models will be available at meager prices at various third-party stores. So if one plans to dive into iPhone 13 Pro models, they must know what it will offer and what it lacks compared to the latest Pro models. So to clear your doubts, here we compare iPhone 14 Pro vs. iPhone 13 Pro to know the difference between the two.

Apple has launched its new iPhone lineup, which includes iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. As iPhone 14 doesn’t get as many changes as its predecessor, all eyes are on its Pro version. Last year Apple provided a 120 Hz display and a telephoto camera in its Pro versions, which is also present in the latest iPhone 14 Pro with various new features, which we will discuss in this comparison.

Price

Apple has kept the pricing of the iPhone 14 lineup similar to the iPhone 13 lineup. However, in the UK, it is costlier than the last year due to inflation. As we have discussed earlier that due to the introduction of the iPhone 14 Pro (Pro Max), Apple can discontinue iPhone 13 Pro (Pro Max).

The latest iPhone 14 Pro will be available at $999 in the US, while in the UK, its starting price will be Β£1,099. So due to the launch of new iPhones, the price of last year’s iPhone will fall and will be available at low prices from third-party dealers. If price is the factor for you, then you can grab iPhone 13 Pro as Apple promises to give updates for about 5 to 6 years. However, iPhone 14 Pro offers much more than iPhone 13 Pro.

  • Pill-shaped cutout (named the Dynamic Island) instead of the notch
  • Always-on display on 14 Pro
  • Faster A16 Bionic chip
  • Higher-res 48MP main camera
  • Satellite connectivity on the new model
  • Improved photos for low-light

Design

Dynamic island

As we look from the back, the design is similar: stainless steel body, matte glass, and flat surface with a triple camera. However, as Apple now provides a 48MP primary sensor, which we will discuss in the camera section, it gives more bump to the lenses than iPhone 13 Pro. The main and the most formidable change is in front. Apple had at last broken up with their old notch display (Although just for Pro versions) and has introduced a never seen pill-shaped cutout which they call Dynamic Island.

This Dynamic Island also takes much space but comparatively less than the old notch. It acts like an interactive panel that changes size according to the notification or alert you receive on your iPhone. This pill-shaped cutout includes the front camera and the Face ID scanner, the same as iPhone 13 Pro, in a unique style.

In iPhone 14 lineup, too, you’ll get a lightning port charger with the possibility of changing it to USB from 2023 due to some lawsuits in the EU and the US. Also, there’s no sim tray available now as Apple is focusing on eSims.

Display

iPhone 14 Pro vs iPhone 13 Pro

This time Apple has kept bezels smaller as compared to its previous iPhones. So despite getting the same display size of 6.1″ inches for your iPhone 14 Pro, you will get extra screen space than iPhone 13 Pro. This year iPhone Pro models get the same upgrades given to iPhone 13 Pro models with a new touch. Last year Apple provided a 120 Hz screen to its Pro models, which in iPhone 14 Pro can go up to 1 Hz for better battery performance.

Moreover, in Pro models this year, Apple has introduced the most demanding feature, i.e., Always on Display which looks quite remarkable with the screen that Apple provides. Also, with the support of iOS 16, one can now set up multiple lock screens with their wallpaper, widgets, and more.

Apple has also claimed that its display will go up to the highest 2000 nits of brightness in its 14 Pro models, which is way too high than the 1200 nits highest brightness in Apple iPhone 13 Pro models. It’s impressive as one can use their handset in challenging bright light.

Camera

iPhone 14 Pro vs iPhone 13 Pro

In iPhone 14 Pro vs. Iphone 13 Pro comparison, the next thing to talk about is their camera.

For quite some time, Apple provided its 12 MP camera in iPhones, which now changed with the introduction of a 48 MP camera in the iPhone 14 Pro. As discussed earlier, the camera design of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro is similar. The only difference seen is the little more bump lenses thanks to the 48 MP camera sensor.

In iPhone 13 Pro, Apple provided three 12 MP cameras, i.e., a wide primary camera sensor to take the best low light pictures and videos by using sensor-shift image stabilization, an ultra-wide camera sensor to take a bigger picture, and one telephoto sensor, which provides 3x optical zoom.

Similarly, in iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has three cameras with a massive change to its primary sensor, which is now a 48 MP camera that will help users take raw 48 MP photos with the use of ProRaw shooting mode. Besides the primary sensor, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras get minor updates despite using the same 12 MP lens. iPhone 14 Pro can now record at 24 fps and 4k in cinematic mode. Regarding the front camera, iPhone 14 Pro has a wider f/1.9 aperture and more enhanced autofocus to get better depth in selfies and improve your conference time.

Performance

No one is prepared for Apple’s most potent processor in its Pro versions. Yes, this year, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max got the world’s most powerful processor, as claimed by Apple itself. These two models have an A16 Bionic chip which consumes 20% less power than last year’s A15 Bionic chip in iPhone 13 Pro. Only the Pro version in iPhone 14 lineup has enjoyed this power, as the standard models get the A15 Bionic chip used in last year’s iPhone 13 Pro Max. A16 Bionic chip gives a modest boost to the performance and also has an image processor to enhance the camera quality.

The A16 chip, which has a 4-nanometer architecture, has more transistors than the A15 Bionic, which uses a 5-nanometer design. This implies that it is more effective and efficient than its predecessor since it can fit more transistors into the same volume of space.

Apple is switching from slower LPDDR4X RAM to the quicker LPDDR5 standard for the next Pro, even though it supposedly uses 6GB of RAM, much like the iPhone 13 Pro.

Battery Performance

The battery life of the iPhone 13 Pro was noticeably better than that of earlier versions, primarily due to its 3095 mAh battery. Apple has surpassed its battery performance by installing a 3200 mAh battery in iPhone 14 Pro. Now, it seems Apple is focusing on battery life as well. A16 Bionic chip and 1Hz resolution also help contribute to battery life by consuming less power than before. The charging scenario hasn’t changed for the better. Even the fastest charging speeds that Apple offers need you to invest in a more sophisticated 25W charger, and even those won’t be as quick as other brands.

What’s the size of the iPhone 14 Pro?

iPhone 14 Pro comes in the same size as its predecessor iPhone 13 Pro, i.e., 6.1″, while iPhone 14 Pro Max comes in 6.7″ like its predecessor.

Conclusion

By keeping everything in mind, we can say that in our comparison of the iPhone 14 Pro vs. the iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro has more advanced features in terms of camera, battery life, performance, etc. Moreover, Dynamic Island replacing the old notch system has made iPhone 14 more demandable and different from the rest. However, this doesn’t mean that iPhone 13 Pro is now a waste of money. Although, one can invest in iPhone 13 Pro as it has the powerful A15 Bionic chip, which has a lot more to offer, and the user will get updates for another four years now. Also, the iPhone 13 Pro prices will fall, which will make it a great deal.

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro: Which one to consider?

On September 7th, 2022, Apple launched four models of its iPhone 14, which it has done for many years. Last year Apple launched four models of iPhone 13. This includes iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, this year Apple has discontinued its “Mini” models. Despite discontinuing one of the models, Apple has launched four models, introducing the new “Plus” model. This year iPhone 14 includes iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This blog will compare the iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro.

Furthermore, Apple has provided only two screen sizes this year, i.e., 6.1″ and 6.7.” iPhone 14 and 14 Pro come in 6.1″, whereas iPhone 14 Plus and 14 Pro max have 6.7″ sizes. So, many users are confused about what to choose between iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. So here we are with a detailed comparison to help you choose better. In our iPhone 14 vs. iPhone 14 Pro comparison, you will see how Apple has distinguished these two models.

This year Apple has strategized its models differently as compared to previous years. Earlier, there was no significant distinction between their standard and Pro models other than 120 Hz refresh rate, stainless steel frame, and LiDAR sensor. However, Apple has introduced a significant distinction between its standard and Pro version, which we will discuss below. These significant changes will make your decision quick.

Price and Availablity

In this comparison of iPhone 14 vs. iPhone 14 Pro, the first thing to consider before buying one of these is their pricing. Apple has kept the pricing similar to last year’s iPhone 13 lineup. iPhone 14 starts at $799 with the starting variant of 128GB and goes up to 512GB, while iPhone 14 Pro start at $999 with the same starting variant of 128GB which goes up to 1TB variant. As you see, there’s a difference of $200 between these two models, which is worth it as you will get many extra features this time in the Pro model.

Pre-booking has already begun on 9th September for All iPhone 14 models. All models, excluding iPhone 14 Plus, will be available in the store from 16 September. You will be able to see iPhone 14 Plus from October 7 as it won’t be shipped until then.

Design

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro

As discussed earlier, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro have approx similar dimensions. But their design is the first area of distinction in our iPhone 14 vs. iPhone 14 Pro comparison. The standard iPhone 14 model looks identical to its predecessor, the iPhone 13, whereas Apple has keenly worked on the design of its Pro versions this time around. The Pro models have many extra features and a newly launched front camera design. iPhone 14 Pro from the back looks like iPhone 13 Pro, but the camera module seems more significant as now Apple is providing a 48MP primary sensor.

Now let’s discuss a significant change in iPhones since the launch of the iPhone X. At last, Apple has said goodbye to the notch. Now, Apple has come with the all-new pill shape front camera design, named “Dynamic Island.” At first glance, it seems pretty cool. This enhanced pill-shaped cutout, or, say, Dynamic Island, beautifully fits between an informative panel and provides notifications and alerts as if being a part of the software. In terms of design, we go with iPhone 14 Pro as it provides a new experience. However, iPhone 14 also has excellent design despite being repetitive.

Display

The next thing to consider in our iPhone 14 vs. iPhone 14 Pro comparison is the Display. While talking about the display, iPhone 14’s display has no change compared to iPhone 13. It has a display size, i.e., 6.1″. iPhone 14 Pro also comes with the same size of 6.1″. However, the iPhone 12 Plus and Pro Max have a larger display size of 6.7″. All models come with Super Retina XDR and an OLED panel with Haptic Touch, True Tone, and HDR support. However, as Apple has more focused on Pro models, they provide a bit extra.

Always on display iPhone 14 Pro

Like last year’s iPhone 13 Pro models, this year’s Pro model also features a Pro Motion refresh rate. However, recent models have a low minimum refresh rate of 1 Hz, which is excellent for saving quick draining of battery. After many years of user feedback, Apple has finally released Always-on Display which shows time and important information when your phone is dormant. However, this feature is specific to Pro models only (which is now on every Android device).

Now, if we discuss the screen resolution, there’s no major difference between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. They both seem quite similar with just a margin of difference. iPhone 14’s screen resolution isΒ 2532 x 1170 (460 PPI), while the iPhone 14 Pro’s screen have 2556 x 1179 (460 PPI). This year Apple promises to have brighter displays than ever as its standard models will feature 1200 nits of maximum brightness while the Pro models can go up to 2000 nits of maximum brightness.

Cameras

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro

Apple users are always keen on its camera quality, and Apple also keeps them happy by providing them with more than they desire in terms of camera quality. iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus comes with two rear cameras, i.e., one primary wide camera and one ultra-wide camera. iPhone 14 and 14 Plus get a camera similar to that of iPhone 13 with a little wider aperture of f/1.5 instead of f/1.6. So overall, they have a 12MP primary sensor with pixels of 1.9 microns, 1.5 aperture, and, as declared, 49% more low light performance.

While iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max got a massive upgrade in terms of camera.

Pro model camera

Apple now provides a 48MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with a wide aperture, and a 12MP telephoto sensor in its Pro models. iPhone 14 Pro model users can now click with 3x optical zoom because of its 12MP telephoto lens, which is absent in iPhone 14 and 14 Plus as they don’t feature a telephoto lens. Pro models also feature the ProRes feature, which allows users to click 48MP raw photos.

Apple announced the all-new Action mode, which will feature in all four models. This feature will enhance the ability of video stabilization as Apple promises that users will not require a gimbal to shoot a video from now on. There’s also a newly introduced Photonic Engine in the iPhone 14 lineup, which will use AI to enhance low-light photography. The regular features will include Portrait Mode with Depth Control,Β Photographic Styles, Night Mode,Β andΒ Cinematic Mode.

Software

iOS 16

No difference is found in the area of software in all four models of the iPhone 14 lineup. They all run on iOS 16, the most recent Apple operating system version. With iOS 16, one can customize their lock screen and set up multiple ones, like focus mode. One can apply their choice of wallpaper, clock, and widgets to their lock screen. Moreover, now one can edit their sent messages in iMessage, and various other improvements are introduced. So, there’s no distinction in software between iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.

Battery Life and charging

Apple Battery

Our blog will be incomplete if we will not discuss battery life when reviewing an Apple product. Apple usually doesn’t talk about battery capacities, so there are no exact figures to examine the battery life. However, for its new iPhone range, Apple has said that its standard model, i.e., iPhone 14’s battery, can give up to 20 hours of video playback, while iPhone 14 Pro can give 26 hours of video playback. So there’s a wide gap between these two models’ battery performance. However, the figures can differ when it comes to real-life use.

Last year iPhone 13 Pro Max had an excellent battery performance, and as Apple is focusing on this aspect too, we can assume an excellent battery performance for iPhone 14 lineup too. All four models support 20W fast charging, which, if we believe an official figure, can charge 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes. So in this comparison also iPhone 14 Pro is a pure winner.

Performance

A15 Bionic chip

After the camera, display, and design, this is the area where things differ. Until this year, Apple has provided the same chip in all its models, but they have different thoughts this time. iPhone 14 got the old chip in iPhone 13 Pro last year. So obviously, it has more power than its predecessor, iPhone 13. Apple has installed its A15 bionic chip with a 5-core GPU in iPhone 14. This chip still has much to offer as it is very powerful, and last year, it beat Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip (But not by a considerable margin).

A16 Bionic chip in iPhone 14 Pro

While if you look at iPhone 14 Pro models, Apple has installed its latest and most powerful data chip in them. iPhone 14 Pro models will feature an A16 Bionic chip with Penta core GPU, Hexa core CPU, and 16 core Neural Engine. This was all built on a 4 nm process. So clearly, the Pro models will perform comparatively better than the standard versions.

Conclusion

We can see a significant difference between these two models in our comparison of the iPhone 14 vs. the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple has made minor upgrades to its iPhone 14 as compared to its predecessor, while when it comes to iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has made ample changes in its appearance by providing Dynamic Island performance by installing an A16 Bionic Chip, 48MP primary sensor, etc. It’s like Apple has poured the whole bucket of its updates on the Pro Models. After considering this, we came to pricing, which also doesn’t have that huge gap. There’s only a $200 gap between these two models, which is worth spending if one gets this much of an upgrade. In simple terms, the iPhone 14 Pro is out and out a winner when compared with the iPhone 14 standard model.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review – No Notch This Time Around!

In a new recent event, Apple launched a fresh handful of products. But the people were more excited about Apple iPhone 14 Pro. Because out of the four devices launched, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max contain the new Bionic A16 chip. However, the iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Plus share pretty much the same look as last year’s iPhone 13. Apple is finally listening to its users, and they worked on notches in the new iPhone 14 Pro. They cut down the notch with a hole punch camera module which apple calls Digital Island. However, it’s a bummer that iPhone 14 still comes with the old clunky bezels, which is kind of a letdown for the people who were planning to buy it. Let’s dive into a detailed review to make you decide whether you should buy this new iPhone 14 Pro or not.

With the new notch, Apple introduced some new and exciting features called Dynamic Island. It integrates seamlessly into the hole punch notch and can show updates of various activities in the form of a pill shape notification. Apple also introduced a new 42MP camera in iPhone 14 Pro, which is a significant change. Apple also claims the iPhone 14 series has a noteworthy battery life upgrade compared to the last-generation iPhones. Let’s dive into a detailed review to make you decide whether you should buy this new iPhone 14 Pro or not.

Overall Review

Apple iPhone 14 Pro

Preorders for the iPhone 14 series started on the 9th of September, 2022. Prices start at around Β£1,099 for 128GB of storage and go up to $999 for 1TB. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro share nearly the same design from the backside. In iPhone 14 Pro, you get only eSIM options now. Apple has altogether removed the physical sim on the front of the device. Display: Same Super Retina XDR OLED screen with the same 460ppi. Apple has introduced the Always on Display feature with iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max. Dynamic Island is a little moted region on the Super Retina XDR OLED display. Sattelite Connectivity will allow you to contact emergency services via text when there is no phone coverage. iPhone 14 Pro comes with the same storage options as iPhone 13 Pro. Apple doesn’t offer microSD support for extra storage; users must depend on the storage options provided by Apple. It comes with an upgraded Dual-core accelerometer, making the Car Crash detection feature work more flawlessly. The iPhone 14 Pro has an improved 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.78 aperture rather than the 12MP lens that has been available for some time. It offers 3X optical zoom, whereas Samsung offers 10x optical zoom on the Galaxy S 22 Ultra.

Pros:
  • Refreshed design
  • Dynamic Island is very cool
  • Great display
  • Always-on display
  • More power
  • Upgraded cameras
  • Multiple SIM options
Cons:
  • 3X optical zoom
  • Lightning port
  • No fast-charge upgrade
  • No physical Sim – so usage will be a bit difficult

Price & Availability

Apple iPhone 14 Pro

The new Apple iPhone 14 Pro has a base price of $999, around Β£1,099, for 128GB of storage. However, this price can go up if you opt for higher storage options, up to 1TB.

The preorders for the iPhone 14 series have already started from the 9th of September, 2022. However, they are fully available from 16th September 2022. Pro model prices are quite high compared to standard iPhone 14 models. The camera was the primary reason to buy the Pro versions in the past, but it’s so much more this year. Therefore, if you can stretch your budget more, you should go for iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max.

New Safety Features

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review

Car Crash Detection & Fall Detection

Apple introduces a handful of new features for users’ safety. Car crash detection is one of the new features which detects if the user gets into a car crash, and it automatically sends the user’s location to the dedicated contact number entered by the user. Also, iPhone 14 Pro comes with an upgraded Dual-core accelerometer which makes the Car Crash detection feature work more flawlessly.

SOS Emergency Services

Apple has included Emergency SOS via satellite, a feature that allows the iPhone 14 to establish a connection to satellites for communication in emergency circumstances where WiFi and cellular networks are unavailable. Emergency SOS via satellite operates in open regions with minimal trees and allows people to text emergency responders. It’s free for two years and works in the United States and Canada. When hiking or camping in distant places, you may utilize satellite internet to broadcast your position with friends and family through Find My. Moreover, the iPhone 14 Pro variants include 5G connectivity and a new Qualcomm X65 modem. Because carriers now employ eSIM, iPhone models in the United States come without a physical SIM card.

The E-SIM OPTIONS NOW

In iPhone 14 Pro, you get only eSIM options now. Because carriers now employ eSIM, iPhone models in the United States come without a physical SIM card. In these new series, Apple has altogether removed the physical sim. Apple’s presentation also shows the eSIM setup detail to help new iPhone users. Therefore, removing the physical sim means there’s no extra port on the sides, and it kinda looks clean & elegant. However, the other utility buttons like power, volume rockers, and silent switch are placed in precisely the same place as iPhone 13 Pro. Sadly, Apple still comes with a lighting port as a charging port rather than USB-C.

Design

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review

Looking from the back side, you won’t be able to differentiate between iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro. They share nearly the same design from the backside. It includes the stainless steel band that wraps around the back and front of the glass, as well as the now instantly identifiable square, three-camera array with the tiny LiDAr sensor. Talking about dimensions, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro are different in somewhat manner. The iPhone 14 Pro is thicker and longer than the iPhone 13 Pro, measuring 147.5mm x 71.5mm x 7.85mm. It’s also 2 grams heavier at 206 grams. The differences are on paper. However, if you hold these devices in hand, you won’t be able to feel any difference at all.

You notice a significant change when you turn the phone to the display side. That awkward old notch is gone. In its stead is a broad pill-shaped notch that houses the Face ID sensors and the front camera, dubbed Dynamic Island by Apple. It’s sleek, discreet, and a significant change from the usual, delivering something unique. More importantly, it is helpful in many ways.

The E-SIM OPTIONS NOW

Display

In our Apple 14 Pro review, next thing to take into consideration is the display. While in the display, Apple has no significant changes compared to iPhone 13 Pro. It has the same Super Retina XDR OLED screen with the same 460ppi. It offers a resolution of 2556 x 1179, slightly upgraded from the last-generation iPhone 13 Pro, which offered a resolution of 2532 x 1170. Moreover, the significant upgrade lies in the screen brightness, reaching a peak of 2000 nits luminance. iPhone 14 series are the only phone which offers this much brightness to date.

Finally, the feature which Apple users have been waiting for is here. Apple has introduced the Always on Display feature with iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max. Android introduced Always On Display way back in 2016, and since then, Apple users have been requesting this cool display feature. Also, this feature adapts beautifully with the Digital island notch. Many elements are present, including True Tone, HDR support, and Apple’s Haptic Touch. ProMotion is also on board, but with an adaptive refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz as opposed to 10Hz & 120Hz as it was with the iPhone 13 Pro.

Digital Island Notch

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review

The most noticeable screen update, though, is the removal of the notch. Instead, we got the intriguing Dynamic Island. Dynamic Island is a little moted region on the Super Retina XDR OLED display of the iPhone 14 Pro. It’s not a notch now; it looks like a punch hole with a pill shape, in our opinion. The pill-shaped Dynamic Island is a customizable portion that displays tiny symbols within the space and draws information from an open app, such as Apple Music or Clock. If you run two apps, Dynamic Island will divide, but pushing and holding on to it will expand and give you greater control. A second press takes you to the full app version that is now filling the area.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review – Specifications & Performance

iPhone 14 & 14 Plus still comes with the old Bionic 15 Chip from the last-gen iPhone 13 series. However, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max only got the upgrade in terms of processor. iPhone 14 Pro comes with an A16 Bionic Chip, 4nm, with a 6-core CPU. Of these six cores, two are performance cores, and the remaining four are efficiency cores. It also offers a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neutral Engine.

The most significant change in terms of hardware is the Sattelite Connectivity. This feature will allow you to contact emergency services via text when there is no phone coverage. For the time being, this is only accessible in the United States and Canada, and you receive two years free.

Coming to storage options, as we all know, Apple doesn’t offer microSD support for extra storage. Therefore, users have to depend on the storage options provided by Apple. iPhone 14 Pro offers the same storage options as iPhone 13 Pro. It starts with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB & 1TB. If you’re buying iPhone 14 Pro in the US, then you won’t get any physical SIM support, only eSIM. This could be a problem if you travel a lot outside the US. However, if you buy the iPhone 14 Pro outside the US, you will get a nano SIM option.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review – Cameras

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review

Coming to the camera section is where Apple has made a significant in years. The camera of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro has undergone significant improvements. The iPhone 14 Pro, like the previous year’s Pro model, features a triple camera configuration. The 14 Pro features an improved 48MP main sensor with an f/1.78 aperture rather than the 12MP lens that has been available for some time.

This new main lens can take stunning images with excellent detail and clarity. It’s a Quad Pixel sensor, which combines four pixels to get superior low-light performance from a bigger sensor. The ultra wide-angle camera has also been improved, with 12 megapixels and an f/2.2 aperture, while the telephoto has 12 megapixels and an f/2.8 aperture.

When it comes to zoom length, Apple did not break any new ground. It offers 3X optical zoom, whereas Samsung offers 10x optical zoom on the Samsung Galaxy S 22 Ultra. However, with the 3x zoom, also Apple delivers crisp and clear photos. It appears to use the entire 48MP sensor and focuses on the center 12MP for optical-quality 2x & full-quality 4K footage. However, the Bionic A16 chip does the actual work: processing the images and giving quality output.

Battery Life

We weren’t able to test battery life in real-time. However, Apple claims that iPhone 14 Pro can withstand 23 hours of video playback on a single charge. This does sound good, but we all know about the battery life of iPhones on how they perform in real life. So the real potential of battery life can only be acquired after testing it in real life. Sadly, Apple’s rapid charging skills have not been improved. If you use a 20W charger, you can still obtain a 50% charge in 30 minutes. Users were hoping for fast charging on iPhones this time.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review – Same Software

Apple iPhone 14 Pro review

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro offers iOS 16, which we can also find on other previous-generation iPhones. However, iOS 16 offers a whole new bunch of software features. Also, the system applications like Messages, Mail, and Photos get changed too. iOS 16 isn’t limited to the iPhone 14 Pro. The software is accessible on iPhone 8 and beyond; however, the iPhone 14 Pro has a few more capabilities, including Dynamic Island and certain photography functions, such as ProRAW.

When can one get iPhone 14 pro?

The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be released on September 16, while the iPhone 14 Plus will be available on October 7. However, the Pre-Orders for iPhone 14 Pro already started on the 9th of September.

Is the iPhone 14 Pro camera better?

The camera is the most noticeable difference between the Pro and ordinary iPhone 14 versions. At the same time, both offer additional features, such as the Photonic Engine for increasing detail in low-light situations and Action Mode for more steady video while on the go; the Pro adds a new 48MP wide sensor.

Conclusion- Worth or worthless buying this?

As per our iPhone 14 Pro review, the all-new Apple iPhone 14 Pro is undoubtedly a unique-looking iPhone that stands different from the old-generation clunky notch phone. It has a new design, camera upgrades, processing upgrades, display enhancements, and the unique Dynamic Island function. All these improvements and adjustments have positioned the iPhone 14 Pro to be the most significant iPhone the business has ever produced, and the Pro is now undeniably Pro. However, if you were planning to buy iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Plus, in our opinion, you should kick up your budget a bit high and should go for iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review – Same Phone with a more prominent bigger display!

The new iPhone 14 series was released at the recent Apple event in California. People pretty much expected iPhone 14, iPhone Pro, and Max. However, this time, Apple replaced its Mini-series with the Apple iPhone 14 Plus. iPhone fans were excited about this phone as this was like the old time when the iPhone 6 was released with its bigger display version, the iPhone 6 Plus. We are here with a detailed and in-depth Apple iPhone 14 Plus review.

The new iPhone 14 Plus in features and specification is ultimately the same as its more minor brother iPhone 14. It has the identical Super Retina XDR display but is more prominent and bigger, which is 6.7-inch instead of 6.1-inch. However, the iPhone 14 Plus wins the game regarding the most prominent need of a user from a phone: battery life. It comes with a bigger and better battery compared to iPhone 14.

As we all know, to buy bigger iPhones, you only have to buy the Pro version, which is quite expensive. However, this time with the launch of the iPhone 14 Plus, users can enjoy a slightly bigger screen iPhone at a nominal price. Therefore let’s dive deep into the review of this phone and help you decide whether you should consider this phone or not.

Overall Review

Apple iPhone 14 Plus

iPhone 14 Plus has a massive 6.7-inch display and costs $100 more than iPhone 14 base model. Compared to Apple’s Pro models, iPhone 14 Plus is $200 cheaper but comes with a bigger screen. The frame is made of aerospace aluminium, not surgical-grade stainless steel as on the Pro models. The iPhone 14 Plus has an OLED display with a resolution of 2778 x 1284 pixels with a pixel density of 458ppi. It supports conventional refresh rates of 60Hz rather than the iPhone 14 Pro’s 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate. There are also other colour options, like Red, Midnight, Blue & Starlight. iPhone 14 Plus has a massive 6.7-inch display and costs $100 more than iPhone 14 base model. Compared to Apple’s Pro models, iPhone 14 Plus is $200 cheaper but comes with a bigger screen. The frame is made of aerospace aluminium, not surgical-grade stainless steel, as on the Pro models. iPhone 14 Plus comes with the same 12MP main and ultra-wide sensors as iPhone 14. Price & Availability

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review

Starting with the price, it’s a plus point for users to get a bigger screen iPhone which is just $100 more expensive than the base variant iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 Plus costs $899 for 128GB of storage, around Β£949. However, comparing its price with the Pro models, iPhone 14 Plus is $200 cheaper.

The $200 difference is a lot for a user if he wants a new iPhone experience with a bigger screen. Overall, if you don’t want to pay Apple’s Pro extra money, the iPhone 14 Plus appears to be a good buy.

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review – Design

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review
  • 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.8mm, 203g
  • Aluminum, IP68
  • Colors available: Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight, Product Red

The iPhone 14 Plus is bigger when compared to iPhone 13 or 14. However, at first glance, it looks the same as iPhone 14, with two cameras at the back and an old notch at the front. The front and back glass is of the same material as the last gen, which is Gorilla glass. Talking about the build of the body, the frame is made of aerospace aluminum, as opposed to surgical-grade stainless steel on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which makes the iPhone 14 Plus roughly 40 grams lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and the same is true for the smaller variant.

Though the iPhone 14 Plus looks the same as last year’s, Apple launched the purple color to spice up the overall design. There are also other color options, like Red, Midnight, Blue & Starlight. Coming to the other design aspects, on the right side, there’s the power button. And on the other side, there’s the iconic mute switch, volume buttons & SIM card slot. Sadly iPhone 14 Plus still comes with a lighting port instead of USB-C for Fast Charging.

Display

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review
  • 6.7-inch, 2778 x 1284 pixels, 458ppi Crisp Resolution
  • 60Hz, OLED
  • 1200nits Bright Display

Coming to the display, it’s the most noticeable upgrade differentiating iPhone 14 Plus from iPhone 14. It comes with a massive 6.7-inch display. This isn’t as big as the Pro Max model. However, the models are more expensive in terms of pricing. Therefore getting this much display in the iPhone 14 Plus at this price is reasonable.

The display has a resolution of 2778 x 1284 pixels with a pixel density of 458ppi. Though the resolution is high, the display density is the same as the iPhone 14 display. The display is crisp, and you won’t notice any pixel tear. It’s an OLED display; therefore, it manages the colors very well, and you will love to use those dark wallpapers to save more juice from your battery.

Sadly, you won’t get any Always On Display feature on iPhone 14 Plus like the Pro Models, which is strange, considering it also uses an OLED display. It packs all the standard Apple display features, including True Tone, Haptic Touch, and HDR compatibility, are all present. However, you won’t get the company’s ProMotion technology. Also, it supports conventional refresh rates of 60Hz rather than the iPhone 14 Pro’s 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, which is kinda bummer.

Specifications & Performance

  • A15 Bionic, 5-core GPU
  • 5G connectivity, satellite connectivity
  • 128GB, 256GB, 512GB storage

iPhone 14 Plus packs the A15 Bionic chip with a 5-Core GPU, so you won’t get any comprise in terms of gaming or overall performance. However, this is the same processor offered in the last gen iPhone. Sadly, you don’t get the newly launched A16 Bionic Chip, which is offered in Pro Variants. The iPhone 14 Plus has 4GB of RAM so that you can do fair multi-tasking. Coming to storage, it comes with three storage variants, that is, 128GB, 256GB & 512GB. The 1TB option is only for Pro models. Also, there’s no MicroSD card support for external storage.

It also has a 5G connection, Bluetooth 5.3 & Wi-Fi 6. If you live in the US, you can only buy an eSIM variant. This can be a hassle if you travel a lot. The iPhone 14 series, including the Plus model, includes an industry-first satellite connection function for making calls and sending emergency messages when cellular coverage is unavailable. The latest Apple devices introduce the SOS feature for users’ safety.

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review – Features & Software

  • Revamped System Apps
  • iOS 16 Out of the box
  • Car Crash Detection
  • SOS emergency services

The Apple iPhone 14 Plus comes with iOS 16 out of the box, which is excellent as it offers many visual changes to the old lock screen. The most noticeable change is the redesigned lock screen. Larger fonts, customizable widgets, and picture segmentation allow you to place a portion of your photo subject in front of the time, elevate the platform, and make many more tiny improvements. With the iOS 16, you get the revamped system apps like Messages, Mail & Photos, also other improvements like Focus Mode.

Sadly, there are two new features throughout the range that iPhone 14 & Plus have at this price: accident detection & emergency SOS via satellite. Crash detection is exactly what it sounds like: owing to enhanced sensors and updated software, the iPhone 14 Plus can recognize if you’re in a vehicle accident and assist you in contacting emergency services.

You can also experience iOS 16 in older-generation iPhones, as it isn’t just for iPhone 14 series. However, you get some exclusive features in the camera app like Photogenic Engine and ProMode only for iPhone 14 series.

Cameras

  • Dual rear camera (12MP + 12MP)
  • Photonic Engine
  • Upgraded front camera (12MP, autofocus)

Reaching to Cameras, the iPhone 14 Plus offers the same camera sensors as iPhone 14. It has a dual rear camera setup, a primary 12MP sensor, and another 12MP ultra-wide sensor. However, you don’t get a telephoto lens like the Pro Max nor a high 48MP primary sensor. The central 12MP sensor performance is better than the iPhone 13 but the same as the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

It offers a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/1.5 aperture rather than an f/1.6 aperture and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor with an f/1.8 aperture.

Photonic Engine – There’s also something called the Photonic Engine, featured in all four iPhone 14 versions and praised for aiding low-light photography. It is essentially a system for image processing. A photogenic Engine is a processing-based feature that enhances your image pixel by pixel after you click an image, which also makes the image appear clear after zooming.

Moreover, you also get a handful of features like Photographic StylesΒ andΒ Cinematic Video for recording videos more professionally. You also get Night mode and Portrait mode for beautiful portraits for taking images at night. Sensor-shift stabilization and Action Mode are integrated into the board for better video stabilization. You can shoot 4k at 24fps & 30 fps on cinematic video on iPhone 14 Plus. The iPhone 14 Plus has an upgraded 12MP selfie sensor compared to last-gen iPhones. Also, now it gets an autofocus mode and a wider f/1.9 aperture compared to f/2.2, allowing better low-light images.

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review – Battery Life

Apple iPhone 14 Plus review

As you all know, the bigger iPhones also have a bigger battery. The iPhone 14 Plus claims a battery life of up to 26 hours, three hours less than the iPhone 14 Pro Max but three hours more than the iPhone 14. However, talking about charging, you get the old lighting port; therefore, don’t expect very fast charging.

Does iPhone 14 have wireless charging?

Yes, the new iPhone 14 PlusΒ supports wireless charging. In reality, it supports two wireless charging standards: Apple’s MagSafe magnetic wireless charging method and the traditional Qi wireless charging standard.

Does the iPhone 14 Plus still use Lightning?

Lightning is used to charge the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. Despite reports that the iPhone 14 or 14 Plus might utilize USB-C or be wireless exclusively, Apple maintains the same standard that it debuted with the iPhone 5.

Conclusion(Should You Buy It Or Not)

Concluding, if you’re currently using the last-gen iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max, we suggest there’s no reason to upgrade to iPhone 14 Plus, as it offers the same specs and a smaller display compared to Pro Max. With a handful of new features like a Photogenic engine and a bigger battery.

However, if you’re currently using an iPhone 13 or a non-pro variant and you’re considering buying a new iPhone. You should consider the iPhone 14 Plus instead of the iPhone 14. It offers a more prominent display, features, and a very rich battery life compared to iPhone 13 at a very reasonable price.

Similarities of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus

Several identical features of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus are mentioned below.

Resistant to Water, Splash, and Dust

With a potential depth range of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes, the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro have been given the IP68 rating under IEC standard 60529. This indicates that they can spend 30 minutes submerged in fresh water up to a depth of six meters which is 19.7 ft. Additionally, dust resistance is shown by the IP68 certification of the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro.

Thus both iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus are splash, water, and dust resistant.

Safety features

  • Emergency SOS

With Emergency SOS, you may easily and quickly call for help and alert your emergency contacts. Emergency SOS via satellite is now accessible thanks to Apple. When Wi-Fi coverage or cellular is unavailable, the system includes specialized components strongly tied with software to permit devices to communicate directly to a satellite. Its goal is to fill the disparities with emergency services.

  • Crash Detection

Apple claims that significant auto accidents involving sedans, SUVs, minivans, pickup trucks, and other passenger vehicles, such as forward, side, and rear-end rollovers or collisions, are detected by crash detection technology.

Your iPhone will sound an alarm when it detects a severe motor vehicle accident, and if you don’t cancel the automatic emergency alert within 20 seconds. The function takes advantage of the high dynamic range accelerometer, microphone, gyroscopes, barometer, and GPS. Using the provided data, the device uses advanced algorithms to establish the timing of a severe auto accident.

However, the iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 plus have similar safety features.

Audio Playback

  • Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos is a sound method that, among other things, enhances existing surrounding sound systems by adding height tracks, which make sounds appear to be three-dimensional elements. Dolby Atmos is supported by both iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus, so if consumers want to increase their entertainment by enhancing the audio quality, they should consider purchasing it.

  • Spatial Audio

Using spatial audio, you can stream three-dimensional sound from compatible media that play on your iPhone or iPad. Spatial audio undoubtedly creates a more interactive experience. It resembles a movie scene in which sounds seem to be arriving from above, in front of, and behind you. If you want music and movies with spatial audio, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus have the Audio spatial feature.

Perks: iPhone 14 Pro vs. iPhone 14 Plus

iPhone 14 Pro

iPhone 14 pro

The iPhone 14 Pro is guarded by a scratch-resistant ceramics screen with an oleophobic coating and features MagSafe charging. iPhone 14 pro is IP68 dust and water resistance. It features 4K filming with gyro EIS stabilization, urgent satellite SMS sending or receiving, a 4nm Apple A16 bionic processor, stunning design, and superior build. It also offers impressive camera performance in low light. A top-notch substitute that also has a gorgeous presentation is Dynamic Island.

iPhone 14 Plus

iPhone 14 plus

The iPhone 14 Plus features a recognizable design, a large screen, a long battery life, 7.5W Qi magnetic fast wireless charging, multiple color options, the ability to send or receive emergency satellite SMS messages, NFC, and 5G support, stereo speakers, and 4K video recording with gyro-EIS stabilization. Additionally, it features the most recent iOS 16 OS, an excellent low-light camera, a super Retina XDR OLED screen with Dolby Vision, and scratch-resistant ceramics glass with an oleophobic coating. It also includes front and rear Gorilla Glass and supports IP68 dust/water resistance.

Drawbacks: iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus

iPhone 14 Pro

The camera improvements on the iPhone 14 Plus aren’t as significant as Apple promises, it just has a 3x optical zoom, and there is no SIM slot. No USB-C, an aggressive photonic engine, lower battery life compared to last year, no fingerprint sensor, and no fast charging support.

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus has the same old chipset, a 60Hz display, no fingerprint reader, no micro-SD card port, limited customization, a big notch on the front, no support for 8K video recording, and a bit of a high price according to specs, a separate charger purchase required, no battery capacity information provided by Apple, and only two cameras.

Layout

iPhone 14 Pro

iPhone 14 pro

Though iPhone 14 pro looks like iPhone 13, it has a fascinating dynamic island design. The Dynamic Island, a new design that delivers an intuitive way to use iPhone, the first-ever 48MP Main camera on an iPhone, and the Always-On display are included on the iPhone 14 Pro.

Users of the iPhone 14 Pro can view messages and recent efforts like playing music, an AirDrop connection, the time, and directions from Maps on the Dynamic Island on the Main Screen or in any app. Every time your iPhone is unlocked, Dynamic Island is displayed.

With this Dynamic Island now included, Apple has modified the TrueDepth selfies to take up less screen area. This adaptive zone can increase, decrease, and alter in size as it communicates information to the user via transitions and animations by using the black space a notch needs rather than attempting to conceal it. For the first time, Apple has a proximity sensor mounted beneath the display.

iPhone 14 Plus

iPhone 14 plus

An Apple iPhone 14 Plus is larger than the entry-level device. Compared to the iPhone from a year ago, there aren’t any significant visual changes. The power switch is on the right of the device’s build, while the volume controls, SIM card slot, and mute switch are on the left. Speakers and a lighting port can be found on the bottom side.

However, while comparing the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus design, the iPhone 14 Pro is better designed. Also, it has a fascinating dynamic island feature making it the best.

Camera Specifications

iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 14 Pro has a Pro camera system with Main, Ultra Wide, and Telephoto lenses, second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization, optical zoom ranges of 3x, 2x, and 6x, digital zoom ranges of up to 15x, dynamic true tone flash, photonic engine, deep fusion, and smart HDR 4 for photos. In addition, it has Apple ProRAW, a night mode, night mode portraiture, photographic styles, and macro photography.

The following six effects are available in the Portrait Lighting on the iPhone 14 Pro:

  • Natural
  • Contour
  • Studio
  • Stage
  • High‑Key Mono
  • Stage Mono

iPhone 14 Plus

The dual 12MP camera system on the iPhone 14 Plus features sensor-shift optical image stabilization, sensor-shift optical zoom, 2x zoom lens, digital zoom up to 5x, proper tone lighting, deep fusion,  photonic engine, smart HDR 4 for photographs, night mode, and photographic styles.

The following six effects are available in the Portrait Lighting on the iPhone 14 Plus:

  • Natural
  • Contour
  • Studio
  • Stage
  • High‑Key Mono
  • Stage Mono

However, comparing the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus camera specifications, it is evident that the iPhone 14 Pro has more camera upgrades, though the portrait lighting effects are the same.

Battery Life

iPhone 14 Pro

A rechargeable lithium-ion battery, MagSafe, and Qi charger are all included in the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 14 Pro can be recharged using a computer or power supply via USB. Furthermore, a 20W adapter or higher can provide up to 50% recharge in 30 minutes.

  • Playback of a video:  Till 23 hours
  • streaming video playback Till 20 hours
  • Playback of audio Till 75 hours

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus features Qi wireless charging, MagSafe, and an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The iPhone 14 Plus may be charged using a computer or power supply via USB. Furthermore, a 20W converter or higher may charge your device up to 50% in 35 minutes.

  • Playback of a video Till 26 hours
  • Streaming video playback Till 20 hours
  • Playback of an audio Till 100 hours

However, there is no significant difference between battery life and consumption. iPhone 14 Plus has a good battery life as users can use more battery for several hours compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.

Can a 14 Pro be used with a 13 Pro case?

Although imperfect, your iPhone 13 cover will work with the iPhone 14. Even though it will be practical, it won’t look attractive. In addition to the larger camera module, the location of the power and volume keys has changed. You will, without a doubt, require a new case for the iPhone 14 Pro.

Conclusion

After comparing the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus, there is no such significant difference between both phones. If the iPhone 14 Pro display is 6.1 inches, the iPhone 14 Plus has 6.7 inches. In the comparison of the battery life and its consumption, there is several hours difference. Both the iPhones are splash, water, and dust resistant; the phones have safety features, such as Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio. The only part which is not identical is the dynamic island, which the iPhone 14 Pro has.

The iPhone 14 Pro is unquestionably theΒ best optionΒ if your size doesn’t matter. It offers more excellent value overall, is more powerful, and has a superior display and lens set.

iPhone 14 Pro vs. iPhone 13 Pro: Time to choose between Pros!

The battery life of the iPhone 13 Pro was noticeably better than that of earlier versions, primarily due to its 3095Β mAh battery.
